The Gate Core Beliefs

God

We believe in one God, personal and knowable, who manifests Himself in three persons, the Father, Son and Holy Spirit. Deut. 6:4; John 6:27; Acts 5:3-4; 1 John 5:20

Jesus Christ

We believe that Jesus Christ is God manifest in the flesh, born of a virgin, without sin and that He died on the cross for our sins.  He, was buried, rose from the dead and ascended bodily back to heaven where He is seated at the right hand of God the Father.  1 Tim 3:16; John 1:1-14; 20:30-31, Luke 22:69, Romans 8:34, Col. 3:1, Psalm 101.1

We believe Jesus intends for the Kingdom to be on earth as it is in heaven and has commissioned His Church to occupy and extend His Kingdom.  We believe in the visible, bodily return of Jesus Christ to this earth to judge the world and to claim His Bride which is His Church.  Those who believe will enjoy eternal life in His presence while unbelievers will be punished and eternally separated from God in hell. 1 Thessalonians 4:13-18; Rev 1:7; Matt 25:46; 2 Thessalonians 1:8-10; Revelations 20:11-15; John 14:1-3

MANKIND

We believe that sin entered the world through the first Adam.   We believe that all people are sinners, guilty before God, deserving of judgment, and in need of a Savior, Jesus Christ our Lord.  Romans 3:19-26: 5:12-21   God is willing that none should perish but all should come to the saving knowledge of the Lord Jesus Christ. 2 Peter 3:9

SALVATION

We believe that salvation includes Spirit, Soul and Body.  The suffering, wounds and blood of Jesus paid the debt of sin in full.  We believe that salvation from sin, sickness, death and hell is by God's grace, based on the work of Jesus Christ alone, and is received by faith apart from any human performance or merit. Isaiah 53; John 14:6; Acts 16:31; Ephesians 2:1-10.

holy Spirit

We believe that the Holy Spirit is absolute and essential deity who was sent by the Father to remain with us. He brings conviction of sin.  He empowers those believers who obey God and separate themselves from sinful habits and lifestyles. Holy Spirit brings to remembrance all that Jesus has said and always exalts Jesus.  John 14:16-18; Eph. 5:15-21

We believe that all people receive the indwelling Holy Spirit when they believe in Jesus Christ.   Believers may have ongoing experiences of filling or being baptized in and empowered by Holy Spirit, evidenced by speaking in tongues and other spiritual gifts.  Luke 24:47-49; Acts 1:8; 2:4; 10:44-48; 1 Cor. 12:1-11

We believe in impartation of Holy Spirit empowerment and divine healing for spirit, soul and body based on the work of Christ, through the prayer of faith, spoken blessing and laying on of hands. 1 Pet 2:24; James 5:14-15, Ps 103:1-5;   Luke 4:40-41, Heb. 6:2 1 Thess. 4:14.  Holy Spirit regenerates, seals, guides, directs and comforts all believers.

bible

We believe that the Bible is the written Word of God and all 66 books of the Old and New Covenant were inspired by the Holy Spirit as written and without error in the original manuscripts.  The Bible is the revelation of the Lord Jesus Christ and God’s truth.  It is authoritative in all matters of faith, practice and living.  2 Timothy 3:16, 17

Body life

We believe that water baptism and the Lord's Supper are ordinances of the church and should be practiced regularly by all believers. Acts 2:38; Rom. 6:3-10; Matt. 26:26-29, Mark 14:22-25; Luke 22:19-20; 1 Corinthians 11:24-26

We believe that believers should assemble together in local congregations for mutual edification, encouragement, evangelism, service and worship. Acts 14:21-27; Eph. 4:1-16
